The basic concept of the SE 370 machining centre is that one manufacturing cell consists of two machining modules. Each machining module basically consists of the tool area with a horizontally mounted, highly dynamic work spindle which can be moved along the X and Y axes and a tool magazine in a second level along with the workpiece area with rotary tables, pallet changers (Z axis) and setup places for workpiece changing. The spindles can be moved completely independently of each other.
To supply tools, each work spindle is assigned a tool magazine installed at a second level which has 112 tool places with HSK 100 tool tapers. The tool change is done by a gripper system which swivels into the work area from above to change tools. The tool handling in the magazine is done via the linear units. Due to the arrangement of the tool magazine at a second level, this machining centre is built in a space-saving way although it has a large work area and tool capacity.
Two rotary tables are located in front of each work spindle on the Z axis slide. The rotary tables with hydraulic clamping are equipped with individual drive in the rotary axes as well as take up elements for pallets with clamping device. To change workpieces for each machining unit, a pallet changer to take up four pallets is provided. This also makes it possible to change workpieces during machining time in this machining centre. One pallet setup place is located at each machining unit on the front side of the machine.
This machining concept is especially well suited for the machining of smaller and larger cast components, such as automobile and lorry components as well as housings.
